About Thomason Financial Services

Our Primary Purpose

Thomason Financial Services is an independent financial planning firm, and Barry Thomason, owner, has been in the investment industry since 2007. Our firm serves clients in Washington, including Chewelah, Colville, Kettle Falls, Valley, Deer Park, Springdale, Spokane and Seattle. We are also licensed to do business with clients in Oregon, California, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona.

The financial advisors at Thomason Financial Services follow the Department of Labor (DOL) fiduciary standard when working with clients, which means we will act in only the best interest of our clients and ensure that all retirement advice given is suitable to the client’s objectives, needs and circumstances. A fiduciary remains loyal to his or her clients and makes full and fair disclosure of all facts pertaining to the client’s retirement situation

Because we are independent, we are not restricted to particular financial products. We are free to draw on the variety of options available from a full range of investment and insurance companies to build plans and programs that benefit clients. We make client recommendations that are in only their best interest, because everyone’s situation is different.

We never lose sight of working in the best interest of our clients. They will also benefit from the experience and knowledgeable network of planning and investment associates who support my firm (including accounting and legal). Our goal is to answer your questions, map out your financial future, and work closely with you so that you feel just as confident about your finances as we do.

Barry Thomason is the owner of Thomason Financial Services and helps clients and families with their retirement planning by educating them on how to properly plan for life’s unexpected events. He has been in the investment industry since 2007 and held prior positions at New York Life, Mass Mutual and Ameritas.

Earlier in his career, he was a chiropractor and owned Thomason Family Chiropractic in Chewelah. During that time, he believed that his most important job was teaching people how to take care of their bodies and live a healthy lifestyle. Now, as a financial advisor, he believes his most important function is to teach people how to care for their financial life and be prepared for the future.

Barry attended Spokane Community College and Eastern Washington University. He then served a two-year church mission in Chicago and afterward finished his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University. He attended Life West Chiropractic College in California, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

He has completed courses from The American College that make him knowledgeable in ethics and financial services; the foundations of retirement, investment, and legacy planning; and the essentials of business insurance and life insurance products. This gives him the experience to provide various perspectives on financial planning and make recommendations as he constructs comprehensive financial plans that are individualized to each client. He has obtained securities licenses, including the Series 6, 62, 63, and 65. Barry is licensed to do business in six states: Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona.

He is happily married to his wife, Avery, and they have six children (five girls and one boy). They love spending time doing things outdoors together as a family. In the neighborhood, they have been referred to as “the running family.”

Barry is involved with his local church and served 10 years as a Boy Scout leader. He is also very involved with the Chewelah Chamber of Commerce having served as vice president and president, and he’s a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).
